The DVD drive in my old (late 2008 model) MacBook Pro has been making noises ever since it fell off a desk a number of months ago. I've put up with it, but it along with other issues have had me start looking at a replacement.
Tonight I decided to take apart the DVD drive and see if I could fix it. I opened the drive, poked around at the insides a bit, and put it back together.
Surprisingly, it still works! Even reads a CD I just put in there.
Maybe I'll get a while longer from this thing. Now to sort out the images so there's not four or five copies of all of my photos, and reformat the thing to free up a little more space.
