Fixed my instant pot!
« on: April 14, 2025, 11:58:11 AM »
My instant pot didn't work at all, giving me a CH6 type error message. I watched a youtube video about diagnosis. Ordered a new pressure sensor off Amazon. Watched another youtube video. Went into the guts of the IP and replaced the pressure sensor, only dropping screws into the nether regions of the pot twice. Put it all back together, plugged it in, and it works!
This is a big deal for me. I'm a nerdy old academic with soft hands and absolutely no confidence in my technical/manual ability.

This is fantastic!  Not only did you fix your Instant Pot, but now the rest of us know it’s possible to fix an IP with that error code — thanks!

awesome!

and thank you to all those youtubers uploading fix videos.

Our electric Eureka floor steamer stopped working. Wife watched a youtube video, asked me to order the electrical part. She wants to learn to replace it herself. She has zero technical ability when it comes to appliance or computer or electronics/mechanical repair. But as with investing, the next best time to learn is NOW!

That's pretty awesome!

I had an uncle who fixed a coffee maker once instead of buying a new one and i was impressed. Impressed by your instant pot fix!

Our air fryer died 5 days before the warranty expired. My wife called the number and we got a new one.

Did this work out?

I repaired a K-cup coffee maker a relative was throwing out. Just needed to be flushed with vinegar. They decided they wanted a new one anyhow so we have a K-cup coffee maker and a couple boxes of pods. Don't need it. Will give it to someone.

We just make coffee with beans and a grinder.

YouTube is such an awesome resource for these sorts of diy projects.

Good job on the fix!

This sort of makes me wonder if there are people who drive around on trash night and pickup insta pots and other small appliances and things and fixes them and resells them, or if this would be a profitable business to do so.

I know there are scrappers who drive around and scrap things, and it seems to be worth their time to collect scrap metal....

We have been using our Instant Pot almost every day for the previous five years. That thing is so useful, especially for Mustachians.

Examples:
- Cooking unsoaked dry beans from scratch in less than 90 minutes.
- Making yogurt (fits 5 pint-size mason jars' worth)
- Pressure-canning preserves, sauces, and pickles
- Making veggie broth from food scraps
- Fermenting dosa batter
- One-pot dinner recipes
- Cooking rice
- Steaming potatoes
