Great work on the repair.
Not sure it's the most mustachian of vacuums, but there's always room for improvement.
There are Mustachian ways to obtain one.
I bought my first second-hand for $150. After four years, it broke so I took it in to be fixed. They diagnosed a manufacturing fault and gave me 50 per cent off a new one. I combined the discount with birthday and Christmas money, and was out of pocket $150, this time for a brand new one.
Mustachians like to complain about companies that don't offer service or repair. This sometimes means paying slightly more for quality.
As JLR said, Dyson parts are very accessible, and their servicing is excellent. My mum had her 15-year-old Dyson serviced a couple of years ago and they basically rebuilt the entire machine - new motor, new hoses, new accessories - for less than $100.
