First Monday of FIRE
« on: April 06, 2015, 04:12:46 PM »
My last day of work was March 31.

Today was the first time I really felt--retired.  It will be an interesting next few months.

I specifically planned for this time  when spring is exploding, and all of my gardens (I've got gardens at 7 addresses in this city) are in need of serious weeding and care.

AT & T is very sorry that I retired, because now I can sit on the telephone and bug them about fixing our up-and-down UVerse service.  Since last Wednesday I've been on the phone to them every day, and FINALLY we got  a lineman out here to asses the problem at the time it was down. He made it better, but still, not acceptable.

So far, so good!

Hi Iris Lily,

I was wondering where you were over the last little while.  I guess I have now figured it out.

Enjoy your retirement and your gardens.

Cheers!

Love it, I'm happy for you. And second your observation that spring is a great time to pull the trigger, if you're picking a date.

Congrats!

Start a blog about the steps you have taken to get the expected service you desired from AT&T.  You could make millions!

Congratulations on keeping your work clothes clean, and getting your hands dirty.  Twenty months to go for me; I expect it will be the longest 20 months of my life.

Congratulations! I am planning on pulling the plug in July, not as good as pulling the plug in Spring, but a close second.
Enjoy your gardens.
Good luck with AT&T

Congrats, Iris, you're living my post-FIRE dream! Seven gardens! Nothing compares to that satisfied, exhausted feeling after working the land as you ease into a chair and the summer sun sets. Enjoy it.

Wow, that's great! I can't wait until I hit that point of my life. I wish I would have found this website sooner so I could be ahead of the game. Oh well, in the meantime I will dream.... :-D

+1

Congrats on being able to spend time enjoying your gardens!
This is the first year that we were able to eat anything that we have grown ourselves.
My kids are having a blast helping too.

That's right! When everything is weeded and mulched it is fabulous! God invented The Cockctail Hour as a time to walk around the garden in the twilight with a glass of wine in hand, reviewing all that is neat and tidy in the garden.
