Actually Using Satisfaction Guarantees
« on: April 14, 2022, 03:59:59 PM »
TMI story time: I’ve been dealing with some gnarly sinus/eustachian tube issues that my normal methods won’t touch.  So I’ve been wading into the wild world of OTC nasal sprays.  Those suckers are the perfect way to waste money: no way to tell in advance how well they’ll work, and for some reason no one has accepted my generous offers to gift them lightly used nasal spray…

But a lot of them have satisfaction guarantees.  So I started doing something completely new to me: when I get a spray that doesn’t work for me, I use the guarantee and get my money back.  It’s been a pretty painless process.  One company sent me a check, and two refunded me via Amazon.  I feel like I’ve discovered a whole new world!

Cool. Probably a pretty high $/hr rate too!

And as a bonus, I've tried things with Amazon reviews like, "I was hesitant to put Pepper spray up my nose" and "Feels like Satan is going in through my nose to fight the war against my headache."  Probably would not have tried those otherwise (although I did not use the money back guarantee on them: turns out they work really well)!

Sounds cool. Could you share more about how much time you're putting in and your ROI? Thanks!

I still think NeilMed is the best. Cheapest too.

Great questions.  Time hasn't been that significant -- it's more an attention/mental load issue: I have to take guarantees into account when buying things and then remember to follow up.  But the process itself has been easy.  No guarantee has taken me more than 15 minutes to request, and no one has given me grief about them.

ROI I'm not sure how to calculate though. The main benefit has been feeling like I'm not wasting money when I try new products, and therefore trying things that I otherwise may not have, and that actually end up helping.  Really hard to put a value on not having a sinus headache for a day:)
