Feeling a little badass
« on: April 06, 2016, 11:32:28 AM »

So, I was planning to go to a conference in Vegas. Work was paying for flight, hotel etc. so majority of the trip was free. Well, except the money I was going to donate to the casino. After a few other factors coming into play, I canceled.

In the last 2 weeks I have been visiting here, I have really started paying attention to my finances and am working hard to pay off some debt. In the end, I decided it was more important right now to put the money toward debt repay instead of into a slot machine or at a table.

So, although I am a little sad, I mostly feel pretty damn proud of myself for adulting.

After this debt is gone tho......
(not sure I will ever grow a full mustache, but baby stepping to at least being smarter about my decisions)

But there is SOOO much to do in Vegas besides gambling, and lots can be free or very cheap.
I was stationed in Japan for 3 yrs w/ my family.
We (Me, mom, 3 girls, dog) stayed in Vegas for a week when we came back (all our stuff was coming by boat).  We had a great time!!  And we only 'splurged' twice; once for all of us to see Circ de Solei and once for an adult evening; dinner, drink, a small show.
Oh, and we gave each the kids a bit of cash ($100 I think) on the first day and let them 'manage' it.  I was pretty impressed how well they did (surely better than mom ever managed money... we're div'd now).
