Utilities Smackdown
« on: September 11, 2014, 04:33:08 AM »
Since joining the forum a few months ago, I started really paying attention to my utilities - turning off appliances, air drying clothes, keeping the heating off (admittedly not too hard as it's been a nice summer here though recently got pretty chilly and I'm still resisting!).  I logged my gas and electricity supplier yesterday with meter readings and discovered I was £416 in credit. So, I called them and not only are they refunding me £300 [$480] they have given me a better deal of £65 per month for both [$100] plus free boiler cover!  I'm amazed at how all the little things add up - thanks to everyone here for showing me the light :)

Umm... turn off billing equalisation or whatever it's called, then you just pay for what you use each month. They are giving you £300 back.. what about the rest? They are just going to look after it for you? How nice of them... I mean, how nice *for* them, an interest free loan!
