Dyed My Own Hair
« on: January 29, 2017, 09:28:53 AM »
Folks, I dyed my own hair this weekend, and I didn't screw it up! Total cost was $34 (hair dye, dye mixing bowl and application brush, smock and hair clips).

This is going to save me hundreds, so I'm pretty pumped. I suppose the most mustachian thing to do would be to just go gray, but geese, I'm not even 30 yet. I'll wait on that...

Sounds like the second time will be even less expensive. Well done.

Nice work! Hope you did a fun color.

Going gray is much easier to address than losing hair...

Thankfully, I should always have plenty of hair.

I do my own hair too with one color process. Doing highlights is just too complicated for me. The best part of doing it at home is that I can do it every 4 weeks because it is so much cheaper than having it done at a salon. I use a special box color because I'm allergic to an ingredient that is in most hair dyes -- think its called PPD. My scalp would burn and hair fell out in clumps from traditional salon and home dyes. The box costs $15 but I only mix up half of it to do the roots. In 4 weeks, I mix of the remaining dye to do the roots again. In Summer I use a whole box because the ends get bleached more in the sun.
I would go gray at some point when I quit working. Won't need to worry about age discrimination when I'm fire.
