Developing a consumerist mindset about investments
« on: August 22, 2013, 02:58:37 AM »
Does anyone else here look at additional investments the way an anti-mustachian looks at buying the next piece of consumer junk?

"Wow, look at those shiny new 2043 TIPS, gotta have me some of those"

"Look at that beautiful small cap value ETF.  I just have to have it!"

"Ahhhh, VGSLX is on sale!   I know I already have a bunch, but I just can't resist a good sale.  Put me down for another 100!"

Absolutely. If you read Joshua Kennon's blog, this is a recurring theme especially when he discusses blue chip stocks. There is a certain beauty to being an owner of a well-oiled, established company with a long track record of consumer successes and good management.

There is a fine line to greed highly dependent one one's personal values, however. YMMV.
