Cutting Driving Down
« on: November 24, 2014, 01:26:17 PM »
Not sure if this warrants a whole thread, but I recently moved to the suburbs from the city, and my non-Mustachian self was so excited to finally drive to work instead of relying on unreliable public transportation. After realizing that commuting 16 miles in a 07 Honda Accord that only gets 20 mpg wasn't the best idea, I decided to go back to taking public transportation. Instead of driving 20+ miles a day, I now drive only 7 miles a day. When I start getting work-at-home days, these costs will drop even more.

Great job on reducing the driving, but now you are well within reasonable biking distance.  7 miles would be a cake bike commute.  Try biking your commute on a weekend just to see how it feels and then transition into doing it a couple times a week.
