Cooked my own food
« on: March 13, 2013, 07:49:58 PM »
I started preparing my own food and saw my food cost drop to a new low level.

Now I can get 2 boiled drumstick for less than SGD 2. One big bowl of salad for less than SGD 2.

Learning to cook is a big win! It saves you money and it's fun to try new things. Congratulations.

Thanks!

My goal is to save some money and at the same time can eat some good food. Cooking does take a bit of time to prepare and clean up but at least you know what are you putting into your mouth and at the same time not burning a hole on your pocket.

Now that you've got all those bones...  keep them in a zipper bag or container in the freezer with the ends of vegetables like onions, carrots, etc.  And when you have enough for 3/4 of a pot full of scraps and bones you cover with water and boil it all for a couple of hours.  Now you have soup stock that you can freeze in portions or use a base for a LOT of different and healthy meals.  ;-)

That's a good idea.
