Just added a second comma in NW calculation
« on: October 04, 2017, 12:26:14 PM »
Wife and I added a second comma to our overall NW last week.  It has always been a soft goal to hit this number before my 40th birthday, and I did it.  Combination of 403B, 457, Roth, 529, Real Estate, smattering of individual stocks and bonds, cash and value of pension.  I am particularly proud that almost four years ago my wife decided to stay home with our kids, but I still have been able to save like a badass.  Can't really share this with many other people.

Congrats! What an accomplishment. Are you doing anything to celebrate?

Woohoo.  Congratulations to you and your family.  My wife and I have a similar NW goal.

Congrats! Yes definitely unfortunate that this type of stuff can't be celebrated with close friends and family. Wish it wasn't that way.

First mill is always the hardest...great job making it through!

Congrats -- well done!

Our ages, life situations, and goals/successes are very similar.  In the ~17 months since we crossed $1MM investable, our investable balances have gone up an absurd ~$223k.  Here's to the same (or better!) happening for your family over the next year.

I wish I had friends that did this, I would totally celebrate with them even though we aren't even close.  We are getting close to a quarter, way faster than I expected, and will likely have to weather a market downturn before the second comma, but I'd like to get there before my first reaches middle school.

Congratulations.

I'll just leave this here for when you hit the 3 comma club:
