Cheap Cirque Tickets
« on: April 03, 2014, 09:29:21 PM »
So when I was on vacation in Vegas, I decided I wanted to see a cirque du Solei show.  Even the discounted tickets sold on the day of the show were kind of pricy (~$60).  Then I found out that the timeshare people will bribe you with them in return for listening to the pitch.  It took two hours out of our day, but we got tickets to Ka for $10 each!  The show was very entertaining, although the pitch was kind of hardcore and I don't think I'd do it again.  Once was definitely worthwhile though.

I have trouble with things like this (and like the person who listened to a sales pitch for a Home Depot gift card); let me explain and see if anyone else feels the same or I'm the outlier here.

$60 tickets for $10 each sound like $50 saved per ticket= $100.
Two hours of your day for two people = 4 person hours.
$100/4hours =$25/hour.

I make well over $25/hour so generally feel that sitting through a marketing sales pitch is not good use of my time and I'd rather just hand the money over and not have to listen to garbage.  Might be a different story for a lot more $$ though.

Would you have made over 25/hour in those two hours though?

Well done OP.

Valid point, Mr Spy.  I guess my intended meaning there is that I feel my time is worth more than $25/hour.  Or rather, doing something that I "don't think I'd do again" doesn't sound like it's worth $25/hour to me.  Then again, I'm new to MMM and spending reduction.

Yeah, that's an interesting question.  "We will pay you $25/hr. to sit through this presentation."  Is it worth it?  Depends on the person, and where they're at financially.  For OP it sounds like a great success.  :)

I went to one of these presentation once.  They gave us $100.  It took 4 hours+.......

However my mistake was I bought the timeshare.  Lucky I got home and was able to cancel.
