The whole time I've driven I've been on my parents' insurance plan with them as the primary driver. I drive a simple '02 Chevy Cav with healthy mileage, but I was paying $827.12 a year for insurance. I could do better for this old car!
My wife just started a plan with a new company for her car, so I joined up with her. I realized that, since my car has almost no monetary value and I have enough to buy a new car in the event of a bad crash, I could do away with collision/comprehensive. Add in the fact that I drive less than most people (I bike), I cut my annual rate down to $387.96 for a savings of 53%!
Feels great.
