Calculated a path for a 70% SR
« on: May 15, 2016, 01:35:36 PM »
8 months ago I wondered if it would be "possible" to have a 40% SR.  Hilarious...

I've since cut lots of spending and feel BETTER for it.  I love what I've done, buying "freedom" instead of crap that, as it turns out, I didn't at all need.  I don't feel remotely deprived or that I have made any kind of sacrifice.

Congrats! 70% is a pretty solid achievement. Just look at all that freedom you are buying!

Can you give some more details?  I'm at almost 60%, trying to squeezed out a little more.

Perhaps the biggest gain has perhaps come from moving to under a mile from work for cheaper rent.  Cuts out 240 miles of driving too!  I will walk from now on and still have more free time.

Edit:  Still trying to figure out a regular manner of getting a side hustle going too.  As I evolve there, I can really lock in that >70% SR even more.

Ah, good info.  I already work from home 100%, so I have that part taken care of.  I will definitely have to try to find out other places to dial things down.

I don't think we can get to 70% savings without a paid off house. We are most likely going to be in the 40%-50% range as long as we pay rent and/or a mortgage. However, with a paid off house, I think it's doable.
