Bought 5 pairs of $50 shoes for $25 a piece
« on: March 12, 2019, 05:20:46 PM »
For some reason Amazon had my particular size at $24 and change .. other sizes were like $50.  I've paid $50+ a pair for these shoes the past few years.  Anyways I bought all they had on hand for $25 a pair :). Will last me like 3 years before I need shoes again.  I only wear one pair of shoes everywhere.. slim white leather sneakers.

I stock up on clothes and shoes I wear if they are at incredible prices like this.. much like stocking up on pork butt (and other meats) in my chest freezer for $1.12/lb (currently at Sam's.. incredible price).

It pays to be awake and look for deals.  Back when my kids skateboarded, I'd bring them to the indoor skatepark in the winter.  They had a small shop and old, out of date shoes were brought in with the idea that kids would destroy their shoes while in the park and would need something to keep skating.  Well, out of date for skateboarders is about 3 months, so stuff that went for $100 new was $49.  Better than that, as these shoes didn't sell, they'd knock em down to $19.  I'd buy the ones I could wear at work (black suede over black sole) for the $19.

I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations for shoe deals or least inexpensive quality shoes for a low price. I'm a big guy who wears a 12.5 - 13 in a wide to 4E width. I'm just looking for suggestions for brands, or particular sites.

Last time I bought shoes, I got some decent sketchers for $100. Seems a bit expensive.

It's hard to imagine buying 5 pairs of shoes as Mustachian, but you broke the mold!  Good job.

How abut 5 pairs of shoes you normally pay $50 a piece for per year?  Do Mustachians not buy meats in bulk and stock up in chest freezer or the like?  (I have 2 cases of pork butt in mine at $1.12/lb and 1 case of pork loin at $1.39/lb.)  There are literally NO other shoes that would work as a substitute for me either.  They are a particular shoe that works well for me providing me the support I need  and very hard to come by affordably.  I can't believe I got them for that price.

I suppose this thread might not be that impressive to most Mustachians now that I think about it because maybe they have more shoes to choose from at affordable prices.  I am weird and only one or two different shoes work for me.  Wear the same thing every day.

I tend to buy my shoes in bulk too.  Every five or six years I will check out some outlet malls and get 5-6 pairs of shoes for around 30$.  It's a great feeling to not have to spend the time looking for shoes every year!
