Big milestone reached!
« on: November 28, 2017, 09:19:40 PM »
My Mustachian family, I must share this with you because I don't really have anyone else to share it with. I am so excited and happy that I turned over $100K in my invested funds today! I have been pushing all year for this and doubted recently I would make it due to an upturn in my cost of living this year, but even with a diminished savings rate, I crossed the line into 6 figures! My NW hit $100K right before Memorial day. Now I need to focus on my 2nd 2017 goal of reaching a NW of $120.

Did anyone else hit a very happy goal in 2017?

Well done - it's a great feeling isn't it? This year's big milestone for us was adding a second comma to our liquid assets.

Awesome! We cracked $400k NW as a couple this year which felt awesome. You will be there before you know it!

Split the next 100K into small 10K-25K milestones, and celebrate each one of them.
You'll have a small win much more ofthen, and it's motivating.

We hit a happy goal in 2017.  I found the MMM board.  It helped motivate us more and we cracked 500K this year, in net worth.  Although, we are still very behind.  We have not saved enough and want to retire early. The earliest we may FIRE is around 2025.  We will have a partial FIRE beginning in 2021 or so.  This is when my spouse will cut three months off his working schedule and we can enjoy more time before our bodies get too aged to enjoy the things we do.

Another milestone is that we are finally maxing out our pre-tax allowances.  We partied and enjoyed spending for far too long.  I guess this year will be the year of my awakening.

If we're sharing milestones: I just made it over $50k in NW for the first time! That's a small number compared with everyone else, but it's a big achievement for me. I graduated in 2010 and my salary trajectory was $20k (2010-2012), ~$15k (2012-2014, grad school), $35k (2015), $41k (2016), and $44k (current).
