Bad Ass Shaving Soap
« on: February 23, 2018, 06:14:19 AM »
I could not find the last cake of shaving soap from the 3 pack I bought a year ago.   While digging through the pile of stuff in the bathroom closet I found one of the fancy round soap bars they provided.   It fit perfectly in my shave mug, softened up, and produced the fullest smoothest shave lather I have gotten from a shave brush.

Yep. This thread title should lead to some sort of horrible tale of woe involving Tide pods and infected rashes.

Use hair conditioner instead of shaving soap. Much better lubrication and your face is smooth afterward.

Nope, did not mean cheeks. Lol, if you were mentioning the other cheeks!!

If you were not punning, men shave their chins along with half of their cheeks and the jaw.

I found Arko shaving soap sticks to be great so cheap, lasts for ages and excellent foaming only negatives are no fancy fragrance and very basic packaging which doesn’t last any where near as long as the contents.

Back when my daughter was a teen and at home, she bought an expensive shave cream for her legs.
I was at the Dollar Store and saw Barbasol for $1.00 and bought it for her, thinking I found a good deal.
A couple of days later I was at Walmart and the same Barbasol was $0.89 regular price.
Plus, the can of Barbasol just sat in the corner of the bath tub and left a rust ring. She never used it.

It was just a round cake of soap wrapped in paper  that I brought home from some fancy hotel.   I don't know the brand.   It lathered up better than the generic shave soap cakes I've used before.  For fragrance I sometimes use a couple drops of essential oil.  Eucalyptus and peppermint are two I've tried.

Someone mentioned Barbasol,  my father used to use that.   I used to use Edge gel before I went back to a double edged safety razor and a lather brush.   The blades work ok and cost 1/20 that of the 3 blade cartridge types.

Seems like an electric razor would be much more frugal.  I have a perfectly decent Norelco electric and my cost is now down under $10/year.
