I recently converted to wet shaving, even before discovering MMM. I converted because I was frustrated with razor burn, expense of cartridge razors, and crappy shaves from electric razors. I was then happy to discover how ridiculously inexpensive it is compared to cartridge razor shaving, for a closer, less irritating, better shave.
I use Edwin Jagger DE8911 razor with Crystal blades, and a cheapo boar's hair brush with DR Harris shaving soap. I get 100 blades for $12.00 and can get 5 two-pass shaves out of each blade. Figuring 250 shaves per year, that's two years worth of shaving for $12.00!!! I'm almost 3 months into the puck of DR Harris shaving soap and can hardly tell I've made dent. At this rate I would not be surprised if it lasted a year or more (but this is my first shaving soap puck, so I don't know for sure how long they last).
After transitioning to traditional shaving, my cost per shave went down from probably 25 to 30 cents per shave to about 5 cents per shave, and the quality of my shaves went WAY up. I used to HATE shaving with a passion, but now it is something I enjoy and look forward to every day. Doesn't get much more Mustachian than that!!!
