A Mustachian Chain Reaction
« on: August 03, 2016, 07:20:10 AM »
I wanted to share a quick story.

In my circle of work and friends I am known as someone who is financially sound... some might even say cheapskate. I get the usual comments about my car and lifestyle in general.

Of course, I give zero Fs but I wanted to tell you about my boss.

My boss has always been a typical consumer and has been really bad about vehicles. In the past 8 years he has had 6 different BRAND NEW trucks that have cost up to 40K. Anyway, I show up to work on Monday and I see a different vehicle. I'm like did he buy another brand new truck? Well, it turns out that he sold his 2016 Dodge Ram and went out and purchased a 10 year-old Tacoma. He even put a very large down-payment on it by selling his musical instruments on Craigslist. I'm kind of shocked because it is very out of character but he tells me he was inspired by my frugal habits.

So fellow MMMers... People might be buying into what we preach without you even knowing.

Keep spreading the good word.

That's a neat story. I bet he was tickled that you immediately noticed and approved.  Watch out, you might be his personal finance guru going forward ;) .

My first thought is that his bad habits have caught up with him and he has a fanancial emergency, but the downpayment might indicate that that's not the case.
