Just wanted to share a small success: My first 4-digit dividend rolled in today.
To be precise, it's exactly 1256 EUR.
It feels great to finally see my money's work produce some results.
Kind regards,
Lordy

Congrats Lordy! That is so awesome!
-
Congrats!
And it's just a mid-year dividend! The Christmas season should be even bigger! ;)
-
Congrats! That's epic!
-
Well done.
Not wishing to piss on your corn flakes, but I have a 5 digit dividend paid next week.
EUR 11500
Quarterly payment, global dividend ETF.

No worries, that's my goal.
We might actually be investing in the same exact ETF :-D

This is coming from DE000A0F5UH1, iShares STOXX Global Select Dividend 100 UCITS ETF (DE).
I have picked this ETF for multiple reasons (in no specific order):
- registered in Germany (my country of residence), so no tax headaches
- quarterly dividend payments
- diversification across companies (100)
- diversification across continents (~30% N.America, ~30% Europe, ~20% Asia, 12% Australia)
I currently have around 80K EUR invested.
-
Yes, the same ETF as I have.
23500 units.
Can I ask you, what % are you paying in tax, because I am hit for 56%, being a higher rate taxpayer.

The capital gains tax here in Germany is 25%.
The solidarity surcharge of 5,5% is added to that.
So if I receive 1000 EUR in dividends, I pay 250 EUR capital gains tax and 13.75 EUR solidarity surcharge, bringing my total tax rate to 26.375%.

I just got my first three-digit div. One day I'll be at 5-digits like y'all...

I've got a fever, and the only prescription is, more dividends

Don't obsess about dividends. It's total return that matters. The dividends are more like a forced sale of capital.
-
What percent dividend are you getting annually compared to your holdings?

I just ran the numbers for 2017.
The average price per unit was around 27,50 EUR.
The total dividends paid were 1,55 EUR per unit.
That would make around 5,6%, if I am not mistaken.
-
It will be a lot lower this year. The Q1 dividend was paid out to German tax authority as a once off settlement.
It went XD, but shareholders got nothing - not good.

That's what I was thinking, unless you want the dividends for living expenses.
-
Nice! I'd be FIRE on that number, so long as it's monthly you're talking. :)
-
Congrats on the savings!
0.46% management fee though...?

While I don't invest for dividends, I like to watch my dividends grow. It is another way for me to "keep score" with my investment accounts. The larger the dividend the more money I've invested.
