The Book of Mormon musical was in Denver a couple months ago and my wife wanted to go but we couldn't find tickets for less than $100/seat. They came back to town on Tuesday and I found out that they do a lottery in person at the box office 2 hours before the show for $25 front row tickets (they do this at every show all across the country). I work downtown so I figured I'd spend this week walking over after work and entering the lottery every day before I went home to see if I could get tickets.
Lo and Behold, the second day I entered, I win 2 tickets! My wife met me downtown for dinner before it started and we got dinner for 2 and front row tickets to the musical for less than $100.
We are pretty good about doing date night cheaply or at home most of the time but its nice to step it up BIG every once in a while for not much money.
