$144 Phone Plan

Well, my cell phone needs are different than most. I make calls all over the world - pretty much everyday. I have more friends living outside the US than inside.

So I signed up for a plan that has unlimited calls to most countries. Just dial.

The company is Ultra. it is a T-Mobile VMNO. Owned by Mint Mobile.

Oh, the $144 is for the entire year - and including taxes. You have to buy the year upfront. So $12 a month for unlimited calls to most countries - even the USA.

So damn cheap I bought everyone a SIM. Merry Christmas.

The special they had then was 3 GB. It was buy 6 month, get 6 months free. They run it now and then.

Personally I just don't use much data. I am well under 1 GB per month. Always on WiFi.

But is this unlimited for calling from the US to international or unlimited from international to international or international to the US?

Of course signing up for a year is great if your circumstances don't change. If you move house or change jobs three months in and the service doesn't work at the new location, too bad, if you need to change, you've done your dough.

That said, I used a 12 month plan with a carrier a while ago and only paid about A$250 for what ended up being 20GB per month. Decent enough deal.

When I saw the title, I thought "that better be for the whole year if it's being posted as brag-worthy."  So it's good to see that it is for the whole year.  It's still more than I pay, but I don't need unlimited minutes due to not liking to talk on the phone.

I've found that at these sorts of prices, even if you had to "waste" the past 3-6 months off of your plan you still net out ahead. Comparable to the major carriers we could spend something like $60-100/mo (for two lines). Only takes about 4-6 months of use to break even.

I just learned more about esims, I'm trying out esim at&t mvno truphone right now that's data only, there offering a free promotion, works surprisingly well and easy so witch back and forth from sim to esim, you just need a newish pixel, galaxy, or iphone. I switched to data only plans a few years ago.
