Who has refinanced lately?
« on: June 14, 2016, 09:40:26 AM »
I'm looking for input on refinancing with an online service.  I have always used my local broker and I would like to try the online approach.  Any companies out there that are highly recommended?

I had really good experience with Quicken Loans. Twice. Everything is online. You still have all the forms, but you sign them electronically, online, in your underwear. They're also pretty fast.

I used aimloan.com last November.
I was quite pleased with how easy it was.

I just refinanced (end of May) with the original lender (second refi).

Who holds your mortgage now and what rate are you paying and what rate are they offering?

Currently held through Pinnacle.  4.1 currently and they can offer slightly better.  I can do better with other lenders.

I'm closing at the end of June with Northwest Federal Credit Union.  My rate lock is 2.63% with no points on a 15 year refinance.  They are based out of Virginia and I'm in the Northeast.  So far it's been great...I even rolled all closing costs into the loan with no bump in interest rate.  I asked them to waive the origination cost in the memo section of the online application and they did...saved $800!  Someone on here mentioned they closed with this bank so I gave it a shot and I'm almost at closing a few weeks later.  The current rate today is 2.8 something, but it's still really low.  Give them a shot...everything is online and really easy to complete.

In the middle of refinancing now, 3.5% for a 30 year with closing costs paid (around a 2-2.5k credit) seemed to be the best offer I could get. I went with GoodMortgage but was also looking at Better Mortgage (haha, looking at this now the names sound ridiculous). I always just pick the top 3 companies on bankrate.com with good reviews and then see which one can give me the best offer.

Oh, and one pro tip: make a folder NOW, both digitally and irl, to keep all of the mortgage stuff in for easy reference. Scan everything you can. You'll be sending things off left and right and it's easier if you're organized from the outset.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
