Trailer/Mobile Home vs Renting
« on: July 29, 2018, 11:04:28 AM »
Rent is like $1000/month or I can buy a 3bd/2ba park home for like $25k, so in almost 2 years of renting I own the house.

Granted I do have to buy land, but the land will be sell able for sure. I'm not buying the trailer home to resell, although where I am, it might sell. It's more about saving money in the long run.

I know many think trailers are a waste of money, but I'll end up having zero rent a year, and only pay taxes. I won't be in a park either, I would own the land.

Good move or not?

How much is the land going to cost (including getting utilities)? How much are property taxes? How much commuting will you have to do vs. where you can rent? Will you be in a location you like for hobbies/friends/neighbors?

I'd rent something as cheap as you can and save money towards a standard home.  I'd rather throw money away on rent than buy and own a depreciating asset like a Mobile home.  Insurance and up keep is way more expensive on a mobile home.
