Hi Neighbor,
I know of a couple of good ones.
This is David Goldstein (disclosure, my son went to cub scouts with his son), who not only is an inspector but teaches about it. Extremely good.

I think they are in Princeton or Lawrenceville.
Some suggestions I have for you.
- You should follow the inspector during the inspection (except maybe roof etc.)
- Wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty, jeans, full arm shirt, sturdy shoes.
- Carry a notebook and pen. There are lots of items that he will tell you how to fix which may not end up on the report
- Feel free to ask him questions. They are very knowledgeable and are happy to help someone who is interested.
Feel free to PM me if you have more questions.
