My accountants right now are nice, but it's clear they don't understand self-employment, at least not once you add in e-commerce, inter-state sales tax, and multiple income streams.

I've reached out to several accountants I've seen mentioned (Andrew Carroll, Keith Schroeder) and, probably as a result of these mentions, they aren't taking new clients.

So are any of you really happy with your accountants and like to pass on a recommendation? I want someone who specializes in online business at the microbusiness level if possible.

Usually you get what you pay for when it comes to professional services imo.  What do they charge you to do the 1040?

These suggestions from an accountant...

If you really want to get a good accountant, make sure you're a good client. E.g., have a good accounting system, be organized, buy into the reality that if you want "good" you don't get "cheap"...

And this more general idea: You need to be careful that you don't create a business that generates too much compliance cost. That's easy with multi-state businesses, like Amazon's FBA model.

The unfortunate reality of many online businesses is that you have the same multistate accounting burden whether your profits equal $100K or $5M.

So... no one has a firm they would like to recommend?
