Tellur, actionable notifications for personal banking
« on: January 25, 2016, 10:27:24 AM »
I'm David, co-founder of Tellur.   Our goal is to help people achieve their specific financial goals with timely, actionable alerts that serve as positive (or negative) reinforcement.  We've just launched, so I'm hoping to get some early feedback from members of the MMM community.  I double-checked with Mr. Money Mustache himself before posting, but my apologies if this appears too spammy.  We just think people who are both already on top of their finances and tech-savvy might have some great suggestions.

See our growing collection of premade recipes for examples or use our recipe builder to create your own.

We're particularly interested in hearing about specific financial goals or actions you have, where occasional alerts might help.  For example, this recipe will remind you to put money in your emergency fund, but only if it is low, and won't send the alert until your paycheck has just arrived.  So we don't bug you until you actually have the money to contribute, but before it gets spent on extra dictionaries.  Our blog has more examples and info.

Please let me know what you think, either here or via hello@tellur.io. Thanks!

Hi, David. The first question I have is cost. Many in this community are very cost-conscious and the cost will play a very important role in whether or not people find your tool valuable.

Everything we offer right now is free.  We do limit each user to 5 active recipes (although that limit can be raised for early adopters who want more), and we only check those recipes every 1-2 hours.

Our plan is to charge, at some point, for access to new, premium features: more active recipes, near-real time checking, other notification channels (sms, etc.),...  Probably a few bucks per month, with a month or two free if paid annually.  But none of that is set in stone.

Is there any capability to actually do transactions, or just alerts?

Just alerts, right now.

We'd really like to be able to do transactions, and it's on the roadmap.  But moving money or making purchases comes with a whole host of additional complexities and security concerns, so it will be a while.
