Smart & Final
« on: September 20, 2014, 07:57:50 PM »
I know we're all about Costco here, but my bf and I stopped by the Smart and Final by our house today and discovered a wonderful land of bulk discounted products! Laundry & dish detergent, spices, condiments (though we don't use many), baking supplies, foil and other "rolls", booze, and half-gallons of Haagen Dazs ice cream attracted our attention. And unlike Costco, no membership fee.

However, my mom once stopped by one and had a bad experience (she said it looked grungy and smelled stale), so YMMV.

I shopped at Smart & Final for years, when I lived near one. I found it to be a great place to buy grocery and kitchen related items.

Here in Southern California I shopped a few times at a Smart and Final. everything that had a price marked on it was fine, but too many things that weren't individually priced somehow they seemed to accidentally overcharge me.

I don't imagine that happens at all S&Fs, and it probably doesn't still happen at the local one, but I haven't shopped there in a lot of years.

That's good to be aware of; to check the receipt after. Thanks!
