pparx.org - Partnership for Prescription Assistance
« on: September 11, 2015, 09:17:01 AM »
I recently found an organization that provides free or discounted prescriptions: www.pparx.org

This organization is funded by the pharmaceutical research companies. It acts as a clearinghouse for prescription assistance programs, which are often available for high-copay, non-formulary, or other expensive meds that are having challenges penetrating the market. The companies win by getting more customers; the consumer wins by saving money.

Many programs restrict income to 200% of FPL, but some are available regardless of income, including copay-reducing cards usable at the pharmacy.

It felt a little scam-y to me, but I found a FTC page about the site (and common scams around PAP programs) here: http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0319-prescription-assistance-programs-health-information-older-people

thanks for this!

also, if you are prescribed a med that costs 1000 a month, call the drug company itself, they often have assistance avail, require none of your financial information.  I have two like that and both have a program, one drug is totally free, the other drug I pay a co-pay only.
