Pick-and-pay garden - Colorado Springs residents
« on: September 26, 2013, 11:36:01 AM »
For folks in the Colorado Springs area, there is a pick-and-pay organic garden at Harlan Wolfe Ranch. Today I got a head of lettuce, 4 beets, 2 peppers, 2 squash over 3 pounds each and a half bag of arugula for $10--plus some recipes and advice about how to amend my raised beds. A gardener there will walk around with you and point out what's good, then harvest it if you want it.

For this area, I believe it's cheaper or at least the same price for organic produce at the grocery store and less expensive consistently than the organic farmer's market here (seems like sometimes it has good deals, sometimes not).

They can usually give some garden advice and they're good about showing kids around, too. They let my daughter pull up some carrots and try them--plus there is a separate garden just for kids.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
