Options for long term stays / booking websites?
« on: January 04, 2018, 09:42:29 AM »
I'm looking at options for traveling somewhere long term (2 months) next Winter. Ideally somewhere in South America with a family of 4.

I'm trying the find the most economical options.  I'm mostly looking at Airbnb but is there a better search option for long term stays.  AirBnB seems more tailored to short term stays price wise.

Also which country gives you the most bang for your buck?

I think with a long term stay it's best to personally contact the accomodation and ask them for long-term rates. I don't know of any good websites for it, but I do know that AirBnB accomodations sometimes do mention their long term rates. My best bet would be to just book a short term stay initially (up to a week), then explore the area to pick a place you like to stay the rest of your time.

Not sure about locations in South America as I've never been. Researching specific South America forums might also help you finding good long term accomodations.

I have friends that use house sitting sites and just randomly jump for a new location that appears. It's not great for choosing a pre-determined location, but if you just have a general area you want to go to this might work.

You could see if there's someone from the forum in South america looking for a renter :D

In Brazil, we were in a tourist place in the off-season. We used a prop mgmt company that we connected to thru a restaurant owner. Leased a furnished place for about two months.

I have browsed Nomador.com for house sits.  Most of them are in France, but there are some in South and Central America.  I haven't dug into the other house sitting and home exchange sites, but there are a lot of them.
