New $10pm T-mobile cellphone plan - 1Gb data
« on: April 05, 2022, 09:51:18 AM »
No affiliation but this is a great plan for older folks like my parents who just  need a little bit of data per month 1Gig and a reliable cell phone service. I am switching both of my parents to this plan from the $15pm 3Gig T-Mobile plan.

And remember that because this is a service  directly from T-Mobile rather than a NVMO operator  (Mint etc) so if you're in a congested area then T-mobile subscribers will get first dibs on the data / cell tower usage and MNVO users will perhaps not be able to make calls or access the internet.

Here is the plan and of course it's not promoted on their website :
https://prepaid.t-mobile.com/prepaid-plans/connect

I've used this all over Colorado and it works great and you'll get 5G ultra capacity too unlike Verizon in my town. Of course there are a few gotchas - it's prepaid, can't add Apple Watch to it, one your go over your data gets cut off (you can go online and add some more until your next bill period), no signal overseas BUT I've be using it on my $1000+ iPhone for the past two years and it works fine - I'm a cheapskate with it comes to cellphone plans (not the hardware though!)

This might be the plan for me! iPhone do you have? I am trying to upgrade and wondering if I should just go for a brand new iPhone or buy one on eBay

Make sure some sort of supplemental data is available just in case.

My MVNO changed my plan from throttling after 2GB to complete shut-off after 2GB, and I've run into problems with that when travelling (seems like Google maps navigation eats bandwidth?). I can buy extra data for $10, which is still reasonable compared to their unlimited plan at twice the monthly charge.

But it's a PITA when you're on the road and really need your mobile data to continue uninterrupted. At least once I've had issues connecting to their server to make the purchase, which was pretty nerve-wracking.
