Need help with a task - ANY SUGGESTIONS??
« on: September 27, 2017, 05:10:58 PM »
Hello

Any help would be appreciated.  I work with HS students and need to develop some curriculum on a variety of topics.  I have a small budget to assist.  I'm looking for places that I can get some help, at a low cost, and still get a quality product.

I'm thinking about using something like Fiverr.com.  I have never used and wondered if anyone had or if anyone had another such site I could research??

I appreciate any assistance or guidance.

Share the topics here.  There are a ton of knowledgeable people here.  Also, check teachers pay teachers.

Thanks for the info.  I had not heard of that site.

The topics are related to career readiness.  Things like job searching, resume writing, interviewing techniques.  Basics like that with a few that that get a little more specific.   Looking at around 8-10 such topics.

Hi there -

I work in K12 education policy and highly recommend BetterLesson.com, an entire website devoted to exactly that (peer-to-peer curriculum sharing). You can find Common Core-aligned curricula that BetterLesson has pre-vetted, as well.

I would NOT recommend using Fiverr or any non-edu specific sites.

Just did a quick search of BetterLesson for the career-related topics you mentioned above. I was initially thinking you were teaching academic content rather than career-prep content, but there are still some good resources on BetterLesson. Just search "career readiness" and filter for "high school."

You might have to create an account - should be free but if you have any issues message me. I'm happy to download unit plans/lesson plans/resources and send to you.

Here are some great resources for college and careers: https://betterlesson.com/community/lesson/641975/careers-majors?from=search

This unit is 100% career focused: https://betterlesson.com/community/unit/40173/career-skills

Finally - a lot of these topics relate to what many school districts refer to as "Transition" or "Life Skills & Transition" for special education students. If you google "transition curriculum sped" or "life skills career curriculum lesson plans sped" you might find some good resources. e.g. here are topics covered that are career-prep related (the third bucket on this page): https://www.cec.sped.org/~/media/Files/Publications/LCE/LCE_Matrix_4.pdf

I've used TaskRabbit for cheap manual labor. Not sure if it would be useful for what you are looking for, but there are all kinds of people on it with all kinds of skills.
