Mustachian App?
« on: October 04, 2017, 04:19:19 PM »
Hey everyone, a couple months ago I had this idea, and I was thinking I would post it here and see what you think!

The idea is to create a smartphone app, which brings your budget down to a daily spending limit. This value is displayed as a widget on one of your screens, so you can see each and everyday how much money you have left to spend that day. For example, if you wanted to get your total overall spending down to $50 a day, then you would start with that, and minus off your constant, monthly expenses. In the end, this would leave you with something like $30 a day to spend. Then whenever you spend money, you simply hit the widget and enter a dollar amount. For immediate gratification things, like coffee or dinner, they would be completely subtracted. However, for other things you could subsidize over the next X number of days. If you just bought $50 of gas, and expect that to last two weeks, you could split it over 14 days, and it would subtract from that. If you want to save $1000 for a trip, you could split that cost over the next 4 months, and see how much you have to cut your spending to accomplish that goal. What does everyone think of this idea? What would you guys like to see in terms of technological aids to the Mustachian lifestyle?

I see one on Google Play that is called Daily Budget that does something like that, but seems to take along other bills as well. Make sure your products does something new compared to what is already there. And study the existing ones to know what you compete against.
