When I get bored and am tempted to shop online, I instead to go my public library's Overdrive site and look for new audiobooks or ebooks to borrow or add to my holds list.  I was doing that today when I thought of also looking for e-music via my library.  Was pleasantly surprised to learn that my library system uses an app/service through which you can download three mp3s per week, and stream a bunch more -- and the selection was pretty decent (searched for some of my favorite artists and found them; but searched for the Hamilton soundtrack and no luck).  Wanted to share in case others may not realize this great resource is out there (for at least some of us)!  Check your library's website to see if they offer it too.

And you can do this from any location on earth. So travel reading and tunes can be free.

Interestingly ironic...
I went to my libraries web site
I clicked the link for digital content
It says it has periodicals, music, ebooks, audio-stories...
But when I clicked the download link, there is no music link.
I'll ask at the counter (since I go about once a month) or call...

Even better -- my library has a HUGE barbershop quartet music library for download, and those things are hard to find commercially in my experience.

I may be the only one excited about that. :p

Mezzie that sounds awesome!  I enjoy that kind of music as well but never thought to look it up.  Will definitely do that now.

Freegal is the music download service that's most widely available of what public libraries offer.  It is somewhat controversial among librarians as it's quite expensive and the subscription model is different than most electronic resources.  It's also limited to Sony content, although Freegal has been promising to expand since the day it launched, but hasn't.
