I use an Australian Government App, call Trackmyspend, by ASIC.
I collect all data on my phone each month, in basic categories such as food, drink, water bills etc.
Then at the end of the month I dump it into a google sheets document and sort and categorise it there.
Then I dump the monthly figures into another sheet that has my monthly spends by category on it, for longer term trends.
It takes a bit of discipline to collect the data, particularly from my wife, but she understands why I am doing it.
