Dating on the Cheap
« on: November 22, 2015, 09:18:08 AM »
I just started dating someone I really like, and thought I'd make a list of fun, non-expensive dates we can do to spend time together.  Then I thought, why not start a thread here so others can share their ideas and we'd all have a great resource of inexpensive (and yet still fun and quality) date ideas?

So here's my list so far...(some of these do cost money but are not ridiculously expensive).  Since I live in the SF Bay Area, it's skewed toward some free/cheap things I know of in this area.  Also, some of these are obviously for when the couple is closer rather than just started out dating..

~ bike and picnic in a park
~ go for a hike somewhere scenic
~ homemade candle light dinner
~ play video games (she likes video games)
~ browse around a farmer's market
~ check out an art and wine fair or festival
~ free outside movies in parks (in SF and Oakland, during the warmer months)
~ free music at Stern Grove (in SF, during the summer)
~ give massages
~ walk around Lake Merritt or Golden Gate Park (somewhere pretty)
~ rent boats around Stowe Lake (imagine it's not that expensive)
~ go bowling
~ play tennis together
~ take one of those free walking tours of SF
~ geo-caching (although I don't know if the ap would work on my phone because I have the cheaper Republic Wireless plan)
~ board game night
~ netflix and cuddle at home night
~ cook something together
~ do an arts or crafts night together
~ go for a run together (she runs a lot)
~ go to the cuddle theatre in Oakland (has sofas and real meal options)

Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks in advance.  :)

If you'll date on cheap, a woman will understand that you're broke. And this won't give you a second date. Women must see that you can maintain her, that you can fulfill her dreams. That's what all women. Besides the ugly ones, which, yeah, they might be hardworking, but nothing compensates her ugliness. Find a nation with beautiful women and there are high chances to find a good woman there. Everyone likes different women, I like the Turkish women, you might like the Russians or the Latinas. Each nationality has it's own advantages and disadvantages.

I'll have to disagree.  Plenty of women out there who would love the majority of the items listed by the OP (no matter what the cost).  In my experience, women responded most favorably to dates that allowed plenty of interaction and activities that natually brought out laughter.

But is this effective on the long term? I mean long term relationships. You won't feed her and dress her with laughter?

At first I was very confused about who these new Mustachians are who don’t seem to value the frugality side of MMM community, but then this post showed the promotion link of the first poster, and that coupled with the low post count of this new commenter has me pretty convinced these are just trolls trying to put their links out there. Whew, the universe makes sense again!
