Darn Tough Vermont socks

I literally cannot wear out a pair of these socks.

They're made for hiking, but I wear them pretty much all of the time that I'm not wearing sandals.

I even tried an experiment last year where I wore one Darn Tough sock and one normal sock for a while, and was able to wear out three normal socks, while the Darn Tough one is still fine.

They're $20/pair at my local REI, but for that you get an infinite amount of sock usage.  Pretty good return.

We recently bought several pair for our 7 year old, who keeps putting holes in his socks.  And my husband just bought some for himself.  So far, so good- they seem very good quality.

We were able to find them quite a bit cheaper online, btw.

I've never worn a hole in a normal pair (I toss when they are stained or the elastic is shot), but wore out a pair of Darn Toughs in less than a year. Very warm, though!

They are an awesome company. Came across some of their cycling socks and they are definitely the tits. Great socks

I never thought BIFL socks could be a thing. This is amazing! Are they scratchy at all? Wool tends to give me a rash, but I have a pair of really gentle icebreaker socks I don't react to. Anyone have any feedback on this front?

I love Darn Tough socks, they are durable, comfortable and resist odor. I have worn through one pair of Darn Tough socks and sent them in to take advantage of the lifetime warranty, and sure enough an identical but brand new pair were sent back to me a few weeks later.

Bracken_Joy: I don't find the wool to be scratchy at all... they should be similar to the feel of icebreaker and smartwool socks.

My GF wore out a pair of Darn Tough running socks in just a few months. She did get a free replacement pair, but shipping the damaged socks back to the company does cost money.

I won't buy Darn Tough's anymore. I bought a pair and wore a hole after a few weeks of continuous use (long hiking trip). I sent them back for another pair, and again wore a hole in the new pair.

I've been very happy with Point 6 socks. I wore a hole through one pair after months of continuous use (same long hiking trip) and have switched to their socks for daily use.

I originally bought two pairs of Darn toughs in 2013. Both Light versions. Wore them like crazy-was living in Japan so didn't take much with me. Heat and wet in summer, freezing and slush in winter, humid all the time; I used the drier for all our washing as otherwise we'd never get it dry in our apartment! Awesome socks for me in all conditions. Eventually I wore out these first two pairs, but, they probably had at least 4 months of wear in them, each. All were worn through in my typical fashion in the forefoot. Most socks I wear out much faster than this in the forefoot, and I wear through my running shoe insoles really quick in the forefoot (I literally wear holes straight through the insoles long before the shoes are though their typical life expectancies). I've owned lots of other expensive high end socks in the past, these are easily as good as any of them, but, Darn Toughs are cheaper. Actually considering the relatively high amount of wool content (which is a big reason why they are so adaptable and comfortable in a wide range of conditions), I think they are the toughest socks I've had. Other high end wool socks I've had (I won't mention names, but, from the better companies) have worn out really quick compared to these.

I'd heard for years prior to getting my first pairs about their warranty, thought it too good to be true and probably only applicable to Americans. But a few weeks ago, now that I had two worn through pairs, I figured I'd ask them if they'd do a warranty. I really didn't mind if they said no, as I now own another six pairs, and would be happy to just buy more. I would have been happy to post them from Aus too (would have been 15AUD).

They responded and said they would happily warranty them, just send them some pics, and tell them what size, colour, models I want! I took the opportunity to get different colours so that I would more easily be able to pair up my socks. They arrived yesterday. No charge at all. Exactly the colours I specified (they didn't have to do that, they could have sent me the cheapest colours or whatever they just needed to clear stock of).

Darn tough are awesome. I can't recommend them highly enough. Superb company.

The Cabot Sock factory that makes DT is 45 minutes from where I live in VT. Every Fall, at their two weekend sock Mega Sale,  I buy a lot of socks! They sell their solid color, merino wool military pre-packaged factory seconds 3 pairs for $10. If you buy 2 packages you get one free. There are piles of all types & colors of Darn Tough socks too.
Between the Cabot sock factory & huge Burton tent sale, it can be a lucrative side gig!

I also have had a really good experience with the Darn Tough socks.  I have some of the hiking socks and also a pair of their ankle socks that are really nice for the golf course.  I don't get blisters when I wear them and they seem to do great for my feet even with a little moisture on the ground.  I don't think I am particularly hard on socks, but the pairs of DT's I own have been wearing beautifully.

Be careful buying the sale "irregular" socks. I tried a pair and they were slightly different sizes with different heights at the ankle. Not a big deal if they're covered by pants, but I could sense the difference when I wore them and it was distracting.

I'm cool with the factory seconds. They are so darn cheap if there is a problem with a pair I've bought, there are 12 other pairs to pick from. Plus the bulk military socks are graded for defects. You can chat with all the sock makers who are working the floor. I understand its a chance that happens though on F.S.

I'm pretty excited to find this out.  I guess I never paid attention to the packaging.  I've had a few pairs get holes in the toe, so I've thrown them out.  Hopefully this means I can send them in for replacements if this happens in the future.

I went overboard and bought three pairs. I wish I could find the thinner versions in black for work. These socks are the only ones that keep sand out when  I hike with mesh trail runners. I was having problems with sand rubbing the bottoms of my feet. Smartwool and wigwam socks just weren't cutting it.

Gotta love these socks! After 7 years with about 6 pairs I've finally worn a weak spot in two of mine. Somehow this feels like an accomplishment to return them for brand new ones.

I've got a couple pair. I run in them every chance I get, and, if they're not too gross smelling, I put in multiple 5+ mile runs in the humidity. After wearing out all other styles of regular white socks, I needed a guarantee in my life. Plus, with a credit card rewards gift card to REI, they were "free." Even if they cost me money, they would be worth the experiment.
