I read a lot of books in 2016 but these were the ones I really liked.  Perhaps you can find something on the list worth trying.  If you see a book that reminds you of another great book, please post to let me know.  Post your own favorites of 2016 to inspire our reading in 2017.

Top 5 Favorite Books I Read in 2016 - Most recommended

Uprooted - A fantasy novel with a teenage girl protagonist that maps a deep exploration of rage, difference, belonging, and becoming - with scary trees

Merle’s Door - A memoir of a particularly great dog that gets to live in a particularly great way, filled with insights and deep questions about how we live

On the Run - A sociology story of how some young black men in the city negotiate their relationships with each other, poverty, and the police - and one white woman researcher’s experience immersing herself into the struggles and complexities of the lives of the people she’s researching
