Easy-to-read book for 57-year-old woman
« on: May 21, 2018, 04:33:02 PM »
Hi guys!

I have a relative that is 57 and has not yet started saving for retirement. I know, I know. She is completing her undergraduate degree and will go to grad school in a year or two, when she's almost 60. She probably won't retire until she is about 70 or 75, since she is very active. I suggested she sign up with Wealthfront so that it is mostly hands-off, but I want her to realize why she should save for retirement. Do you have a book you recommend that is easy to read and not dry?

I gifted my mom this book recently, and it's sparked some good discussion: https://www.amazon.com/Make-Your-Money-Last-Indispensable/dp/1476743770

(Edited to fix link)

"The Simple Path To Wealth" book is based on the above web series, by Jim Collins. Simple language, easy to understand concepts, interesting stories that are great at explaining the complex concepts in an entertaining manner. I went from zero knowledge and pretty scared of the whole concept of investing/market stuff to being a pretty savvy investor that advises others now based mostly off of Mr. Collins' amazing series (and asking lots of questions here and then adding in the Bogleheads site and some of their books).
