Amazon Prime Day
« on: July 11, 2016, 03:48:16 PM »
Anybody planning to make some mustachian purchases on Amazon tomorrow? If so, what are some deals you would like to see or are looking for?

I really think it is best to avoid this altogether... Unless something you have been specifically looking for and waiting for a sale to purchase goes on a great sale then I think it is counterproductive.

Last year was a joke...  Not even going to check the deals this year.

Well, last year really sucked. But I have several items on my "eventually" list to replace or get. If they happen to be on good sales, I will get them. The $30 off a purchase of $150 or more is appealing, and we virtually all of our non-grocery shopping through amazon.

So I will look, but I'm not convinced we'll buy anything. Didn't last year.

No.  The things I really need, diapers, won't be on sale.

I'm buying a Fire Stick, assuming they go on sale (which seems a safe guess). May try to hit that $150 threshold if I can do so with things I would buy anyway, but not stressing about it.

Yes, signed up for the free trial. Signed up with a US receiving address too. I have a chunk of Amazon credit I would like to spend some of.

A few bits and pieces. Well, we'll see what the sale actually brings, I guess.

^ This. I'm a heavy Amazon user, but I use Amazon to buy stuff I need.   If I need something I buy it, if it don't, I don't.  The odds of me needing something on Wednesday that I haven't already bought are pretty slim.

It seems to be slightly better than I remember last year, but I still haven't found anything I absolutely have to have. For others though, they do have Instant Pots for a good price of $69.95 right now.

Came here to mention this. Around Black Friday last year it was about $75, so this price is even better. A great multi-use device for cooking.

I ignored it last year, but this year I caved and bought an Instant Pot for $70.  I hope it pays for itself in Mustachian home cooking.  It is $50 off retail so this was a good time to snag one.

It has paid for itself over and over just in Greek yogurt and skyr for me.

None of the stuff I'm looking to buy right now is on sale, and apparently they also don't qualify for the $30 off $150 deal. Too bad. I closed my browser window and have moved on. It was good for wasting half an hour or so at work. Got my window shopping fix for the week.

It looks like walmart has this for $75...am I missing something? Doesn't seem like a great deal.

That is incorrect. The closest model number at Wal-Mart is $140. The $75 one lacks the yogurt option, which is seems a lot of Mustachians use. Also works at lower pressure and has shorter program limits.

There are a few decent deals, the trouble is wading through everything and finding something worth buying.

I've seen a few brands of diapers mentioned on babycenter. There are definitely some on sale.

The Lego Tie Fighter is super cheap (relative to retail) now.  Should be easy to re-sale for a profit at some point down the road.

Today only, Prime members can get $10 in Amazon promotional credit by purchasing at least $50 in Amazon.com Gift Cards.

You can search for prime day items. Click the "all" next to the search bar and under it is prime day.

I bought two sets of 20-piece reusable meal prep containers (saving space in the cabinets and fridge), a set of reusable mesh produce bags (keeping some plastic out of our house), a BBQ tool set (keeps me from further heating up the house in the summer), and sports sunglasses with five kinds of interchangeable lenses for my fiancé's bicycle commute, which is sometimes sunny, sometimes a blizzard, etc. I think these are all pretty Mustachian purchases and grand total it all cost less than $66 shipped, PLUS I forewent the free 2-day shipping and racked up something like $20 in Prime Pantry credit.

my partner bought a pressure cooker- she'd been wanting one for a while after we used our slow cooker into oblivion. usual prime price was $119 and she bought it for $76...so, not really *crazy* savings.   i checked all the baby & child items and the "deals" were a complete joke.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
