2 Audible credits burning a hole in my pocket! Recommendations?
« on: January 30, 2019, 05:48:17 AM »
I have 2 free credits and would love advice on a book that you would listen to numerous times. For example, the ones that I currently have are Sapiens, The 4 Hour Body, and Tribe by Sebastian Junger. All well worth multiple listens.

Thanks!

I'm thinking something like Ramit Sethi's I Will Teach You To Be Rich or Erik Barker's Barking Up The Wrong Tree.

I liked Sethi's stuff when I first started learning about personal finance. He and Dave Ramsey were my introductions in PF. He skews more to the "become and entreprenuer and make metric shit-tons of money so you can live it up" end of the PF spectrum in my estimation. Interesting fun read, but not for me.

I just finished When by Dan Pink (print) and The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg (audio) and found them both amazing.

The Happy City is great too (MMM recommended)!

For some reason I got another free credit.

I went with Moby Dick and Ready Player One the time I posted here.

Oryx and Crake is a good read. About social divides and gene editing. Might become real sooner than we think.
For Ready Player One, Don't watch the movie. It's so bad compared to the book.

@2Cent , amen. I had to turn the movie off after less than 10 minutes. :/

Still though, fun book with a nostalgia kick!

We have similar tastes in books.  I loved Tribe and also enjoyed Sapiens.  I can't give you any great recommendations, just some that I enjoyed.

Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins was very entertaining

A Second Chance by Catherine Hoke was heartfelt and a good listen

I have a weird interest in the human microbiome and enjoyed I Contain Multitudes by Ed Yong...this may not be most people's cup of tea but I enjoyed it.

Great thread idea!  Looking forward to other recommendations.

"Road To Serfdom" by Friedrich Hayek.

This was my first Audible purchase. Heavy, is an understatement.

Lost Connections by Johann Hari.  Not exactly uplifting, but the only book I've listened to on Audible.

I just read the Second Edition of I Will Teach You To Be Rich and really enjoyed it. It will probably be pretty basic for someone reading this forum, but it's enjoyable.

Deep Work, by Cal Newport. Or Digital Minimalism by the same author. I pretty much love everything he has to say.
