Inspired by the "Top 3 Goals" in another post - I recently learned about picking your "top 3 words" to motivate you through the year, instead of making specific "resolutions". For this year, my three words were: Relationships, Community, and Joy.
This helps me set priorities with my time. Whenever I am considering doing something, I ask myself:
- Will this strengthen a relationship? (I always want to be reaching out to people to give my time and energy)
- Will this build community? (especially for my daughter, since it takes a village!)
- Does it give me joy? (and I should be looking to find joy in all things, even the most mundane)
The pandemic has thrown a wrench in some of my plans (no more neighborhood potlucks!) but this has been a good way to guide me. If you had to pick three words that guide your actions, what would they be?
