I think he's getting the hang of it...
« on: December 02, 2015, 12:07:58 PM »
My dad retired this past spring then spent several months traveling.  Today he tells me he was up until 2am reorganizing his digital music then slept until 10:30am, this from a man that was in bed by 10 and up at 4:30-5:30 for the majority of his 40+ year working career. I think he might be getting the hang of it!

Hah. When someone gets so into something they stay up late to do it...that inspires me. :)

Definitely!  Staying up late, knowing you don't have to get up early, is a wonderful retirement benefit.

Yeah, it's nice to start reading a book, and end up reading till the sun comes up.

This is one of my favorites.  I read a little before going to sleep each night.  Sometimes I'm really into a book and will stay up till 1-2 am to finish it.  During the week I typically still have to get up by 7:30 to walk the kids to school, but I know I can always take a nap in the middle of the day if necessary.  :)

I hope I get there soon.  I FIRE'd at the end of August and find it difficult.  I'm so used to putting in 60+ hrs a week that It's a real struggle to just enjoy my freedom now.  Never thought I'd actually feel that way.

Wait... there are times a nap isn't necessary?

Wait... there are times a nap isn't necessary?

I'm an incredibly lazy person but just can't get into napping.  Unless I'm really tired, I tend to wake up groggy and tired after a nap (maybe I'm doing it wrong lol).  So if I'm a little tired, I'll get up and do something to get blood moving and oxygen flowing to my brain.

It's probably because I get enough sleep (7-8 hours) most of the time so I'm never running a sleep deficit.  Mrs. RoG, on the other hand, is a master at napping but that might have more to do with slight anemia (or at least she blames it on a medical-ish condition ;) ).

I have been watching TV regardless of time since the break. I can get up at any time.
