Wife and I just signed up for a 10 day Alaska cruise of which about half the time is spent on land looking around AK. We are going in August, with several other couples.
I've been to AK six times on hunting trips, but never just sight seeing. Looking forward to it.

In 2015 I did five overseas trips:
Visiting friends in the US (Pennsylvania) in May
A guided tour of the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) in June/July
Two weeks in the Greek Islands in September
A week in Avignon (South of France) in October
A week in Lubeck in northern Germany in December
Plus two long weekends in London
This year I will be doing a week in Italy in May, two weeks by train in Norway and Sweden in July and visiting my friends in the US in October. Plus again at least two long weekends in London. And maybe another week in Germany in December

DH and I are planning a short tent trailer camping trip for September after the crowds have gone home but the weather's still nice. We'll be the relaxed old coots in the semi-deserted park! We'll rent a trailer (plenty on Craigslist) in case we don't enjoy this as much as we've fantasized. :) Destination: BC Sunshine Coast or maybe over to the beautiful Kootenays.

We're taking a long road trip through southern Canada, ending in Newfoundland, where we'll hike the East Coast Trail.

Not retired yet, but I'll chip in...
Going to Armenia in May to assist with a historic preservation project that one of the non-profits I support is sponsoring.
And, got a trip to Japan / Korea planned for later in the year for vacation.

I'm leaving on about a 1200 mile round trip to see my son in Gainesville, a hamfest in Orlando and my daughter
in Bradenton. I expect to be gone 5 to 7 days. My first excursion since retiring 01-01-17

Spending two months abroad in what I strongly suspect will very much be a near complete immersion experience. Meaning, I'll be the only American there. Have started some language learning on duolingo.

All of my (domestic) travel since I retired has been on Amtrak sleeper cars. It's been wonderful!

I go to PT status as of April 1 and on April 9th head to Paris for a week to ease the transition.

Only semi-retired, in 2016, we visited: Cost Rica, Spain, Andorra, Italy, San Marino, China, St. Martin/St. Maarten, Anguilla, Belize, Honduras, Mexico.
In 2017, already visited China, will be in France (Paris) and Morocco (Marrakesh) in March, and in Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, and Greece in May. We have not planned the trips for the 2nd half of the year yet. Looks like we will visit 10 countries every year.

Beautiful pictures (and I'm soooo jealous ;-)). Some of my first post FIRE trips where long solo motorcycle camping trips - but just in the USA, no where as exotic as you've been doing. I'll definetly take you up on a beer if I pass thru. No real plans but just meander a bit in a sort of genetal direction and see where I end up.

FIRE'd in Oct 16 and our first trip is a family trip to New Zealand for my 40th birthday. It's costing us a pretty penny, but I wanted to do something memorable to celebrate the milestone birthday and reaching a significant goal I set for myself at age 22 (i.e. Retire by 40).
DH doesn't love travelling like I do, so I'll probably do a solo overseas trip later in the year.
We are also considering an offroad caravan (RV) purchase, but I'm not yet convinced it makes much financial sense compared to staying with AirBNB around the country.

I just went to 30% retired. Trips in the works for 2017 -
late april road trip in Michigan and then train down to Memphis, Nashville, and then attend a conference in Huntsville, AL
7 weeks in Indonesia & possibly one other nearby country (Timor Leste?)
9 weeks - Andorra, Barcelona, walk the Camino de Santiago, and a couple weeks in Portugal for Thansgiving.

The past two years:
Turkey for 2 months - including the eastern Kurdish areas - watched Mt Ararat from a cafe that was bombed two weeks later, Just after I had come back.
Eyre Peninsula for 2 months - including the Flinders Ranges
Ecuador (including the Galapagos Islands) for 1.5 months and a two week circle of the US National Parks near the Grand Canyon - Bryce, Zion, Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley...
Mount Warning and the Gondwanaland World Heritage rainforests, the Capertee Gorge for a month
New Zealand for 2 weeks
I drove and RV from Seattle to Anchorage (clocked up 5000 miles with side trips), and did the inside passage on the Alaskan Marine Ferry stopping for a few nights at places along the way - 2 months
A week to Alice Springs and Uluru. (It rained! and the rock was PURPLE not red! - It is rarely purple. A number of tourists were complaining because it wasn't red, like what everyone else sees every day.)
Planned in the coming year:
Iceland, Greenland and Eastern Canada - 2 months
Mount Warning and Capertee Gorge again
Broken Hill and Mutawintji
New Zealand - at least a month.
After that... who knows!

I made a move to a former Soviet country as a Peace Corps volunteer. Since being here, I've partly learned the language and visited Romania, Moldova, Hungary, and Spain, with plans to go to Armenia, Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic this summer. It's pretty awesome, and my nest egg is just hanging out waiting for me.

We are told business as usual on a pretty regular basis. The director resigned, but that happens with all political appointees after an election, even if the party doesn't change. We have an interim director now and will eventually get a new one.

Planning on retiring between May and Aug 2019. Plan is to buy a used Toyota Sienna AWD minivan and modify it for a bed in back, plus tail-gator type tent attachment. Going to criss-cross America, mostly hitting iconic rock climbing destinations, and eventually the west coast to work my way down the coast surfing along the way, while also meeting up with friends here and there. I'm targeting 2-3 months. Pretty much think about it every. single. day.

Yes. But still 2 years of work to go.
In the mean time for this year we will:
- visit Egypt (a bargain destination right now after the devaluation of the Lira last year) and cruise the Nile on a sail boat (dahabiya)
- spend a week in the seychelles
- cycle across 4 countries in Europe along the Danube cycle way over 2 weeks); and
- spend a week at a friends place on the Baltic Sea coast of Poland.
For 2018, I really want to travel through east Africa (particularly Rwanda and Tanzania). But we shall see.
In 2019 the real fun will start. We will spend a year travelling. Hopefully we will do 3 long hikes (Nepal - everest region, Camino Santiago and the Penine Way). We also want to spend time in Portugal, Iceland, NYC amd central America).
In 2020 we want to go to the Tokyo Olympics.
Beyond 2020 I have no idea.

Itchy feet - for Africa, look into Overlanding. I like the company "Oasis Overland". You can do a 10 week trip for the same cost of a 1-2 week luxury trip as long as you're willing to set up your own tent, rough it, and cook some group meals from time to time.

We won't be able to take a long trip as we will be working our final year. It would be awesome if I could negotiate a month off work. More likely the max I could get is 3 weeks. We are happy to camp and fully expect to be in an overland truck for the 3 or 4 weeks.
We did an overland trip in Southern Africa for 4 weeks about 17 years ago and have wanted to go back to see more. The years go by all too fast.
