Youtube Advice?
« on: August 03, 2017, 12:36:18 PM »
So I've recently decided to get more into Nail Art.  I have always liked interacting on web forums and for awhile kept a blog, but just haven't been doing the blog thing anymore. So I thought I'd add nail videos to my youtube channel.

Now, I don't have illusions I'm going to make a living on this; but it might be nice to monetize it eventually.

So here is my dilemma. I have a decades old, unfocused, youtube channel that has well more than the 10,000 requisite views for monetization.

Can I just add my new videos to that channel and build a "brand" from here?

Or should I keep that as a random stuff/skating/quilting/whatever channel and start a new one that is solely focused on nails if I want to consider it a "brand"?

I would definitely start an entirely new channel.

If you are wanting to make a serious go off it and make it a big focus, definitely make a specific channel just for this.

Definitely monetization, but make sure to keep it standard, and provide benefits for your viewers every couple of milestones (i.e 1 million subscribers face reveal, e.t.c)

Thanks. I guess I'm going to be looking at a new channel.  Which means I have a long way to go before I can monetize at all.

I wish I had realized I could monetize my old channel ages ago.  Since doing it last month I've made a whole dollar!  But I had the 10,000 view minimum on that one a LONG time ago.

Why wouldn't you just build atop your existing platform?  Why start from scratch if you don't need to?

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
