wild a$$ conspiracy of the day
« on: March 19, 2020, 02:15:50 PM »
post your new daily conspiracy theories in this thread. i'll start:

i loosely follow the politics scene. knowledgeable enough for a reasonable conversation, but not totally all in. all the things that have transpired over the last 3 years just screams to me that trump has been actively undercutting america to the long term benefit of others (russia, for example)

just came across this article:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/here-are-18-reasons-why-trump-could-be-a-russian-asset/2019/01/13/45b1b250-174f-11e9-88fe-f9f77a3bcb6c_story.html

and then coupling that with the response to the coronavirus, it sure seems like this is part of a bigger plan.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/19/us/politics/trump-coronavirus-outbreak.html?action=click&module=Spotlight&pgtype=Homepage

next, i suspect you'll see some kind of crazy "we're not holding elections this year" kind of ploy. or, russia will shut down our power grid or something akin to mass disruption of everything.

let the conspiracies flow.

If I may make an observation? Everything that the tin-foil hat conspiracy set a decade ago were saying that Obama would do to the United States, Trump has kinda done - or is in process of doing, and they've supported it because it's "necessary" to save the country. Weirdest case of projection, ever.

With this in mind, regarding, "some kind of crazy 'we're not holding elections this year' kind of ploy," it's called Martial Law, and it's not that far of a stretch at this point given how many states need national guard troops with boots on the soil right now.

The strange thing is, through the eye and lens of a weird, narcissistic, ego-maniacal sort of way... there have been moments in this crisis that it looks like Trump is actually trying to express compassion and help the country he's been tasked with leading, he just doesn't know how to do it in any sort of non-competitive, us-versus-them, selfish sort of way. Doesn't mean that what he's doing is right, it's just what it is - a psychopathic sociopath's misguided efforts of suddenly feeling the weight and seriousness of the office and trying to help others with the only skillset he knows after all the adults that had been around him already left.

After all, why ascribe to malice what incompetence can clearly explain. As a guy who used to have a bit more of a tin-foil hat bend, that's the real flaw of the most easily believed conspiracy theories. Incompetence and human nature go a lot farther toward explaining these events than secret cabals ever could. Also, from a more spiritual/theological position, I really like a line an old acquaintance told me once, "You don't need two people to actively work with one another when the common third party between them is the Adversary (Satan)."

Honestly, Isaiah 8 as a whole, and 8:12-13 specifically come to mind:

You are not to say, "It is a conspiracy!"
In regard to all that this people call a conspiracy,
And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it.

It is the LORD of Hosts whom you should regard as Holy.
And He shall be your fear,
And He shall be your dread.

So, I know chasing conspiracy theories can be fun... trying to unravel and prognosticate what's going on... but let me be a voice of reason and experience and warn you all not to indulge this compulsion too much. Going too far down the rabbit hole can be dangerous to your own grip on reality, and right now, more than ever? We need sober minded adults.

I came across one on Reddit - the military took possession of the corpses in Italy because the bodies are rising! It's the zombie apocalypse! Nothing to do with morgues, cemeteries and crematoriums being overwhelmed.

I have a friend who spends his days on conspiracy theory sites and prepper sites.

With the current state of affairs, he has stocked up on gasoline, coffee, water, and bullets.

He has stopped posting about chemtrails, at least, but the latest post was from some doomsday group in Georgia who think this is the first step in getting the world population down to 500mm people. Why, I'm not sure...I don't have the time to read the rhetoric.

Someone I saw last Wednesday was suggesting that the cold they had before Christmas was really coronavirus.  Not just in the UK, but in a part of the UK that has recorded exactly 10 cases of coronavirus, all of which sprang from a school skiing trip to Northern Italy in February.

I have to admit I lost some respect.

Chloroquine phosphate is used for cleaning and that is commonly known as chloroquine, the anti-malarial. There is quinine sulfate, which is also used as an anti-malarial, but it's more dangerous for the fish.

It really depends on how pure the cleaner is. A 95% pure powder has chloroquine and 5% inactive ingredients such as wax and starch, etc. Most cleaners are far less pure.

Regardless, no one, including the President, should be advocating taking a drug based on such limited knowledge.

Would actually be funny if true.

Hm... any deathrate comparisons between native Americans and all those illegal immigrants and their illegal descendents from Europe?

If I had to guess I would say that "pure blood" Natives are still more in danger.
Oh well, they are because of worse healthcare anyway. Scrap any statistic. SIGH

Everyone around me is absolutely convinced that they all had the coronavirus back in December/January when a cold was going around.  "I had a bit of a sore throat, so did everyone else, it was almost certainly this virus going around.  They weren't testing for it until now though, that's why our numbers are just spiking now".  I get it, I like to be hopeful that the sore throat I had a month ago was this virus because it turned out to be very mild and I feel better now, and that's a much more preferable situation than thinking death is still marching towards us, but come on people.  You really think you and everyone else got the virus 1-2 months ago, and we didn't see a surge in hospitalizations and deaths until they started testing for it?  I like to be hopeful, but some of these people are totally disregarding precautions because they are convinced they already had it so they are safe.

The craziest conspiracy theories I've read so far is about the number of mobile users declining in china and it being attributed all to deaths:

Saw a funny one on a Facebook FI group:

Coronavirus is a global conspiracy because all governments need to keep the people inside so all the batteries in the birds can be replaced.

(Apparently coronavirus is part 2 of a conspiracy therory that all birds are little battery powered spies....some people have too much time on their hands to think of this stuff))

Haha, I actually had that thought too. I got a cold a month ago. Technically I could have been infected e.g. in the hotel or the train by one of the very first cases in Germany. And I had some unusual symptoms. Even now, 2,5 weeks after being fit I still have a slightly sore throat and have to cough sometimes.

But the changes against it are in the millions, so I won't be safe unfortunately.

...but they are birds.  Even if you don't believe they are birds (which is easily verifiable by finding a dead bird, or killing a live one) and are in fact government drones they still essentially function as birds and you could bring them to your remote location to replace batteries, because you know, they are birds that can fly.

Some conspiracies I get because people are just crazy and believe wild things, or have some preconceived notion of something and warp the world to fit their view, but this one doesn't even make sense.  I mean obviously you would use rechargeable batteries, and the birds/spies would be recharged in a remote location.  Even if you somehow had the technology to create spy birds, but used non-rechargeable batteries that needed replacing, you would still just fly them back to some remote location and change them, not shut down society so you could do it in the open (which is also not happening).

Nah they got back at us by having all the high earning Casinos where all the suckas spend all their money making the First Nations People RICH! Covid is likely just as harmful to them as smallpox ingused blankets - at least financially. At least they can blame China this time.

Last night's new cast showed an endless train carrying and endless supply of Nat Guard tanks (yes tanks) heading "somewhere" in state for "some reason". Our Governer had called in the Nat Guard to assist with food distribution the other day and now everyone is wondering why we need a billion tanks for that. They said it's just a normal transport but....

This is mine:

Coronavirus is not contained at all in China. They've just done the calculus and decided that it's worth the deaths to be the only economic engine in the world running right now.

Think about it, they've only shown a token appreciation for human rights to appease western customers. They run interment camps for undesirables (google Uyghurs muslims). They've looked at the landscape and seen every economic rival go to a standstill...  Suddenly, their "cases" of Covid drop like a stone, and they open everything back up.

Killing Letting ~3% of the population die for the opportunity to cement their place as the world power and economic powerhouse ...

Looking at it logically, I don't think the Chinese government is that sure in their grip on the population. The biggest problems for Chinese leaders were always mass uprisings (there is a famous time in history where there was nearly one uprising per hour)

Coronavirus is a Central bank conspiracy (or opportunity) to introduce a new digital currency, run rates permanently negative around the entire developed world, and destroy paper currency for good. You will now need to pay to hold ‘cash’ in any form. USD will have  a 1:1 conversion upon ‘withdrawal’ but will deposit at a factor less than the negative interest rate, essentially forcing you to either spend, invest, pay the bank to hold, or lose purchasing power over time. Banks will no longer hold dollars, all Dollars will convert directly to Fed eCash upon deposit.

The dollar is dead - eCash is here to stay. Enjoy your 1200 ‘dollars’ of eCash from Uncle Sam. Good luck pulling any of that out at an ATM.

Heard it on YouTube from a very unreliable source.

Hundreds of groups have tried to implement this "full money" or whatever its called for you since at least half a century. I am surprised anybody thinks they suddenly manage to do it, and in such a great scale.

Anyway, isn't that the ultimate dream of the American Way of Life? Super Overconsumption?

No, just the proof that those creatures are more intelligent than the average American and avoid contact to potentially infected people.

That is hilarious, almost as much so as Trump's idea to move the military to the Canadian border to stop illegal immigrants from crossing to the US from Canada and bringing in COVID.  uhm, we have a fraction of the infection rate up here, and the net movement of illegal immigrants across that border is in the direction of Canada, it hardly seems a viable threat.

Maybe he could build a wall?  Except he should want us, we will dilute the numbers of infected /healthy.

Someone posted on next-door a long article about doing methamphetamine to fight the virus.

As a Lead I rolled my eyes and let it go because there really is no Nextdoor rule about being stupid. It was interesting that everyone let it fly by and it would’ve become outdated, if someone had not posted a comment to the thread a few days later. That brought to the attention of several Leads and they zapped it.

Reserve Requirements
For many years, reserve requirements played a central role in the implementation of monetary policy by creating a stable demand for reserves. In January 2019, the FOMC announced its intention to implement monetary policy in an ample reserves regime. Reserve requirements do not play a significant role in this operating framework.

In light of the shift to an ample reserves regime, the Board has reduced reserve requirement ratios to zero percent effective on March 26, the beginning of the next reserve maintenance period. This action eliminates reserve requirements for thousands of depository institutions and will help to support lending to households and businesses.

Conspiracy theory: banks no longer required to hold cash.
