I dunno, I just don't get it, seems like it would be miserable hating interacting with other people all the time.

Well, it goes both ways. Since extroverts are energized by human interaction, they will end up "miserable" in a situation where they're not getting enough of that interaction, whereas introverts will be just fine.

I've come to the determination that I'm the only person who posts on internet message boards who is an extrovert.  Sooooo many people exhibit introverted, or worse, social anxiety-type symptoms when relating benign day to day interactions.  I'm the guy cracking corny jokes to the cashier who probably goes home and complains about the idiot customers trying to talk to him/her.  I dunno, I just don't get it, seems like it would be miserable hating interacting with other people all the time.

I always start conversations with cashiers. Baristas, etc . usually involves jokes . good times . I know how it is to deal with shitty bitchy ppl or just being ignored  at work .

Also, something that's been driving me insane (and that I actually thought of when I read the title of your thread, before reading the actual posts) is people presumptuously asking me when I'm going to get married.

Easy to fix.

Partner's mother:  When are you two getting married?
Me: We're waiting to have kids first.

That was about three or four years ago. She's never mentioned it again.

What annoys me is because of the job I do, people (friends, family, acquaintances, total strangers)  feel it's OK to say the following:

"So are you loving your job?" (um, do YOU love your job every single moment of every single day?)

If I don't give a super enthusiastic "You bet!! Get to travel the country and blah blah blah" then I get

"Well, you can't keep this up forever, can you?"

Another time I was at a Walmart paying for groceries.  The lady at the register said "You're buying some very healthy food here", then she scans a 6-pack of diet Dr Pepper and says "Well, this isn't very healthy..." I smiled as I thought "you cow...".  Geez, with running commentary like that, no wonder there's always a huge queue at the self serve registers!

I was in an Apple store buying something or other for my daughter.   The attractive young sales associate informed me that I could checkout directly using my iPhone.   When I commented that I don't have an iPhone she said "You're just like my dad!"

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
