Republicans are in favor of states' rights, except when states try to do things they don't like. "Things they don't like" includes anything that might slightly reduce corporate profits.

So would I be wrong to assume that Trump's administration wants employers/employees to be forced to use a for-profit retirement option? Something with alot of management fees?

I'm not sure I'd want the whole "automatically enroll private-sector workers in retirement plans unless they opt out" thing.  I'm not sure it's the Fed's business if states/locals do it... but I don't like the idea of automatic enrollment.  I suspect there would be scope creep over time.
